Most Staffable TV Writers List — Rules

TERMS, CONDITIONS, AND RULES

After the Harvardwood Writers Competition judging is complete, the top submitted original television pilot scripts that were written in a HWP — TV Writing Module during the immediately preceding fall/spring semesters will be placed on Harvardwood's Most Staffable TV Writers list. Scripts must be original pilots (spec scripts are not eligible), they must have been written in an official HWP TV module, and only scripts written in modules during the immediately preceding fall and spring semesters are eligible. The Most Staffable TV Writers List is sent to managers, agents, networks, studios and production companies. Each of the selected writers may also be paired with an Industry mentor. See the most recent press release about Harvardwood's Most Staffable List.

Material: Material submitted for the Most Staffable List must be original material (never submitted for competitions and the like, and be new to the industry), and must be created, significantly rewritten and/or improved in the course of the module. If you have questions about these requirements, please discuss with the Program Director and your module leader.

Requirements for Submission: 1) Be a Full Member of Harvardwood (or, if submitting on behalf of a writing partnership, have joined as a Friend of Harvardwood and paid your $100 module program fee); 2) Miss no more than two module sessions (and even then, only with prior notice from your module leader); 3) Complete and submit your material on a consistent basis; and 4) Actively workshop your material and participate in discussions regarding other participants’ material. Please note, only original pilot scripts meeting all of the other requirements below will be eligible for submission for Most Staffable consideration. Spec scripts will not be eligible for submission, and writers who complete only a spec script during the Program will not be eligible for the Most Staffable List.

If You Completed More Than One Module: If you successfully completed more than one official HWP original pilot module in Fall 2019 and Spring 2020, you may submit those additional scripts for Most Staffable List consideration. Please note that you still may only submit ONE script for the Competition itself (which automatically includes consideration for the Most Staffable List), however, there will be an option to submit an additional eligible script to be considered ONLY for the Most Staffable List. This means that you should submit what you think is your best of the two for the Competition.

Deadline: 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, July 31, 2020 (same as the Harvardwood Writers Competition)

Submission: Original TV Pilot scripts submitted to the Competition will automatically be eligible for the Most Staffable List. After Competition judging is complete, the top original television pilot scripts (approximately five) that were written in an eligible module during Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 will be placed on the Most Staffable List.

Cover Sheet: Your pilot must have an anonymous cover sheet in the following format:

Show Title

"Episode Title" (if applicable)

Genre: [one-hour drama, half-hour comedy, etc.]

Short Logline: [yours here]

State on your cover sheet: "Submitted for evaluation in advance of Harvardwood's Most Staffable TV Writers list. If you have further questions or would like to contact the writer, please email D. Dona Le at [email protected]."

Additional Material: Before the Most Staffable List is published, finalists will be asked to email a second TV sample, either another pilot script or a spec episode of an existing show (any genre, on or off-air). These second samples will not be included in the Most Staffable List judging process, but they will be screened to ensure that they are complete and exhibit a basic level of TV writing knowledge over and above the one submitted sample. If you have any questions, please contact the Program Director and module leader.

Attendance Policy: Be in compliance with the Attendance Policy requirements set forth above.

Syllabus: Please note that each module syllabus is a guideline for participation in the modules, and not a strict set of requirements to be met for eligibility for the Most Staffable List.

Membership & Fees: You must be a current Full Member of Harvardwood, and have paid your $100 module program fee (or, if submitting on behalf of a writing partnership, have joined as a Friend of Harvardwood and paid your $100 module program fee).

Results: will be announced in Winter 2020/Spring 2021 (depending on judges' schedules). The number of writers selected will be based upon final script scores. The number of writers selected will vary from year to year.
